Per I Ferien

We have created a simple framework which enables us to comment on the gentrification in Berlin and the hype of the district Mitte by presenting a fifteen year old fictional gallery project. We pretend to have started gallery Per I. Ferien in 1989, the day after the wall fell, and it has been existing until now. Due to bad advisors and lack of sent, we ended up in Wedding believing that this was the new "it district". Gallerie Per I. Ferien participates in Now and ten years ago at KW "cause this is the new art fair in berlin, bigger and better than Art Forum" (PIF). In our space at KW we will build a cubical "art fair style" stand; thin walls, carpeted floor, design furniture and so on. This is the frame our works will be presented within. Currently and up till the show we are producing a high amount of exhibitions in mixed media and under a variety of pseudonyms, which all will be installed in a rented space in Berlin and documented with photos. We claim the exhibitions to be from the fifteen years of running Galerie PIF. Besides of the photographs you'll find a set amount of original works as in every respectable stand. In addition to this we are making a episodical video documentation looking at ideal collective work, mechanisms and conflicts emerging from the different opinions on underground idealism and high institutional ambitions. Because of our background from the outskirts of Europe (Bergen) and lack of knowledge and experience from this period in Berlin, we hope we are able to investigate the mythical side of urban hype and have a subjective view on the desire it triggers in people as well as in ourselves. At the end of the day all the fictional shows will comment the hype of Berlin's art scene and construct the biography of our gallery: The rise and fall of Galerie Per I. Ferien.
